San Diego High School

I have been attending San Diego high school for the past 2 weeks. I go to the school of communication. It has been an entirely new experience for me. On my first day I got the chance to attend a pep rally and witness some wonderful caver pride. I also made a lot of friends. In the beginning I thought I wouldn't fit in, but I met some really weird kids here. I am only taking four classes this quarter. So far all most of my teachers are nice. My favorite class is English because we discuss interesting topics and the teacher is very open. I like this change and I hope that I will like my next school just as much.

Chilean Miners Rescue

Thirty three Chilean miners were trapped in a collapsed gold and copper mine six hundred meters below ground. These miners were underground for approximately two months. They survived by rationing their food and staying in an emergency shelter. As a result to being trapped in the mine some of the men suffered from skin conditions, chest infections, and high blood pressure. Psychiatrist also say that they can possibly suffer from metal scars. I think that is was irresponsible for the project director to let the men go into the mine because it wasn't safe. It was very unfortunate for those men to have to go through so much turmoil. It's also amazing that all thirty three men were able to survive and return home to their loved ones. Even though those people could have died during this particular event, it didn't affect me because I did not personally know any of those men.

Essay Reflection

In my essay I made sure to include detailed information about the people and the environment I was in. I also made sure to keep my essay within an hour time frame. I forgot to spell check my essay for grammatical errors because I procrastinated. If I didn't waste so much time I would of probably gotten a better grade. In order for me to become a better writer I would let someone read before a publish it next time so I can most of the errors. In the future when I'm preparing to write another essay I will make sure to do all the necessary steps to get the best grade possible.

"Two Kinds" In the Shoes of a Prodigy

If I was in Jing-mei’s shoes trying to become a young prodigy I would feel like I was under a lot of pressure. People would probably push me to become a poet. I would be constantly trying to live up to everyone’s expectations and standards that there wouldn’t be time for me to discover what I want in life. I would handle the situation by telling them that they can’t decide my future for me. Some people would probably be disappointed in me but I know that I'd be living up to my full potential by doing my best. There would still be pressure on me to not fail at what I do, but that would help me to succeed more.

"Two Kinds" Conflict Experience

When I was around ten years old my friend invited me to go to the mall with her. I wasn't allowed to go alone, but I decided to anyways. We rode on the trolley all the way to the mall .The first thing we did was buy clothes. I was having a lot of fun until I realized it was getting late. As we were getting ready to leave my friend wanted to stop at one last store so I agreed. She didn't have any money left and wanted me to steal something for her. If I didn’t she said that she would steal something and tell my mother that I did. I didn’t know what to do. I decided not to steal anything because she wouldn’t have said that if she was my real friend. After I made it home I told my mother and I felt relieved because I wasn't going to be in trouble.
